Clive Hopkins - Scriptwriter

Clive graduated from University of Reading in 1981 with a BA (Hons) in Philosophy, after which he pursued a career in computing.

In 1990, he began a part-time MA in Screenwriting at the London Institute, graduating in 1993. He has scripted a number of student graduation films before writing the short screenplay Holiday Romance, which won the Best Script award at the 1993 Fuji Film Scholarship.

The film was finally produced in 1998, and premiered at the London Film Festival before being broadcast on the UK’s Channel Four. Holiday Romance went on to win Best Short Film at the 1998 Hollywood Film Festival, and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Short Film (Live Action) in 1999.

In Australia, Clive combines screenwriting with freelance journalism for The Sydney Morning Herald. His feature articles have ranged from anger management to the changing fashions in car colours, but his favourite subject is the movies.

As well as Road Train, Clive has a second completed feature script in development Thanksgiving a horror/satire on the war on terror, which was one of the projects selected for SPAAmart in 2007.
